Hi all,

A daft question here.

I have just put the back end together and everything looks fine apart from one thing which i have got myself confused over.

For some reason i think that before the rebuild i could not turn the rear wheels if it was in gear but cant really remember trying...so i am not 100% sure...

Now, if i hold the drive shaft still i can turn the rear wheels...
If i hold the rear wheels i can turn the drive shaft...
If i turn the drive shaft and dont hold the wheels they turn....

This is normal isnt it???
Thick question i know but i dont want to put the body back on and find i have a problem.

Also one of the fuel pump bolts has snapped so it looks like i am going to have to either drill and tap the old one...or weld a new one on

Andy.

The diff allows independent movement of all 3 inputs.

So - fix the rear propshaft from gearbox to diff and turn a rear wheel clockwise. The other wheel will turn anticlockwise as you look at it from the one you are turning.

Fix a rear wheel and you can turn the other wheel slowly (LSD) and the propshaft will turn.

However, fix a wheel and the propshaft or both wheels and nothing will move.

HTH.

Thought it was ok...you know when you just start thinking about things and you convince yourself it is not right...?

I hear you are up in Newcastle tomorrow...if you pass Birtley you can drop in if you want...?

Cheers

I just didnt want to weld the stud as it would ruin the coating...i know i can paint it but....well you know...mind you i have to weld one of the exhaust hanger studs on as they managed to bend one to the point wher eit has cracked.

As for sleep...you are not funny irked

Monday she went to sleep at 4am...
Tuesday it was 5am...
Yesterday Clare stayed up with her...i took over at 5am...

Still, plus side is i have got the baby monitor out in the garage so i can get an early start when she does go to sleep...!!!
