I have just noticed that it makes a "twittering" noise when cold. Like high pitched birdsong. Sounds like the fanbelt. Is it something to worry about or do "they all do that, sir"
No, they do not all do that Sir!! Sounds like you have a dry bearing on the aux drive belt, tensioner or idler pulley. You may be able to reach it with some WD40, but it will only be a temporary fix as the only real answer is to change the offending item!
it is the belts that squeel first thing for approx5 mins and are a pain to change toy have to remove the air con pipes and cowlings etc. if its on warranty get them changed but i think at mo the belts are on back order. commonn fault!!
Thanks, I will book it in with a dealer. The car is only a month old (07) so no problems from a warranty point of view.
To be clear, it is not serious (I only noticed because I dropped the window). When the cabin is closed, you can't hear it. It goes away after about five miles.
