Afternoon all,

Second post in as many days on alloy's but would appreciate a point in the right direction.

I have 2 x 16" Amil Alloys of a 4.3 where water has got in over the years and turned white. Does anyone know of a good diamond cut refurbisher in the West Midlands.

Thanks

Tildo

Mine were done within the last 18 months and still have white marks. I think the only option is don't lacquer them and clean them often.
There was a placve in Wolverhampton (think it is A1) which I heard good reports of. THere is also a refurber on the Tyburn Road in central Brum - they seem to do everything but not heard any reports. Web site:

PS I'll be moving in for real next week so will be in touch, although the Griff will be staying at the folks for a while.

Lap Tab don't deal with diamond cut unfortunately. I think i'll hang on till the Growl and see if anyone from the trade there turns up.

Trust the new place is going well.

Its going well if not slowly and loads of work.

There are no wheel refurbers specifically coming along to the Growl so the options are through a dealer/indie. There are a number of refurbers around but not sure which do the diamond cut. Might be worth a post in general for ex Griff owners who have moved on to an inferior Tiv.

I looked for someone to refurb a set of Amil 5 spokes a few months ago, but struggled. I kept getting told that laquering diamond cut wheels was a problem.
In the end I decided that the reason I was going to 5 spokes was to avoid the high maintainance on my OZ split rims, so I didn't want to spend ages polishing Amils.
I chose to get them painted instead, but if you go down that road pm me first, I'm not impressed with the job done on mine.

Most places will advise against laquer on diamond cut finish because the modern day laquers do not adhere to the finish and will lift off in time allowing water penetration causing more unsightly damage to the wheel.....

alot of the S owners are going down the route of a painted coat or no laquer and polishing.

I agree - the diamond cut finish is a very good look and i'm not overly impressed withn the painted finish i have seen. If i was to go down this route i may opt for a complete colour change to gun-metal colour or somothing like that.

I'm going to accept defeat gracefully for now and look at it again over the winter when i don't mind loosing all my wheels for a week or more.

Thanks for your reply's.
