Greetings all from the latest arrival to the Porsche Owners Club..... its my first experience of actually owning my very on max penile extention having survived on a diet of Bmr's and Jags for the last 7 years.....!!

I decided to start as we mean to go on and so I purchased a brand spanking (nearly full spec) new C4S Tip, (cause I do the M25 and can't work a clutch for more than 24 hrs in one sitting....!!) It was delivered in sparkling condition by AFN Guildford on the 25th April 03.

Since then I have had soooooo much fun - and I ain't stopped grinning!!.

However - one small fly in the £75K ointment.

The new 03 PCM System will not switch on (boot up in PC speak) within acceptable time limits - like 30 secs to a couple of mins - it can take over 40 minutes on occasions (at least 50% of the time) to find the Vodafone network. The messeges on the screen start with 'Check card', 'initialise phone', 'wait for phone', 'phone off', 'initialise phone', etc, etc , etc and around the loop we go.

I have taken it back to AFN and they ran the usual diagnostic on the systems. Result - Blankety Blank...!!

Net bottom line - Porsche DE have had multiple reports of this and now know they have a problem with the old software and the new 03 hardware - but get this - they do not currently have a working solution and have asked that we stand by for an unknown number of weeks until they get to the bottom of it.

So if any of you fellow Petrol Heads have a new 03 PCM System and have problems with it booting up - I suggest you go straight back to the dealer a get them to call it in to Porsche DE so that focus and weight is brought to bear..... especially after £70+k......

When you say "boot up" do you mean just the phone module? or the whole PCM system.
I have noticed that the phone takes ages to initialise when you first put the SIM in the slot.

I mean just the phone function of the PCM..... but in its 'booting up' or 'initialising' process it will cut out the whole package (CD, Radio, SatNav, etc) as part of its 'switch on/switch off' process. So you get 5 or 6 seconds of a blank screen whilst this happens.
AFN and Porsche DE have confirmed that it should switch on - ie: be available for use within seconds - just like your handheld nokia or whatever and its not....
