BMW X5 gets the M Sport treatment

BMW has given the X5 the M Sport look

This is the new BMW X5 4.8i M Sport. It gets new 19” V-spoke M light alloy wheels (upgradeable to 20” for the full bling), Sports suspension, M Aerodynamic body styling, Sports seats, matt aluminium surround to the side window frames, high-gloss Shadow line roof rails, Anthracite headlining and M leather steering wheel.

You’ll be able to buy one of these leviathans in one of six colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Carbon Black, Monaco Blue, Space Grey, and Titanium Silver.

Inside, Nevada leather upholstery is standard and available in black, grey, beige and saddle brown hues. The M sport comes with Dark walnut interior trim is standard, but customers can specify brushed aluminium, dark bamboo or light poplar at no additional cost.

Power for the car comes from a 4,799cc engine fitted with Bi-Vanos and Valvetronic variable valve technologies to produce 355hp.

4.8 litre V8 unchanged

This advanced engine is capable of propelling the car from zero to 62mph in 6.5 seconds before going on to a top speed of 150mph. It’ll manage 22.6mpg on the combined cycle, although a heavy right foot will see that drop considerably, no doubt.

The price for all this uber-SUV-ness is £53,440, with M Sport versions of the 3.0d and 3.0si models following later this year.

Proper bad boy motor & a cracking drive, I like the camera in the boot for reverse parking you can switch it on at the lights to check out the tallent behind. Also the reverse parking camera has new field lines for warning of objects.
Although you can get SE or M-Sport there's no Sport or ES.

What have they done?! I always liked the styling of the earlier X5s but that looks poo. Even the wheels look crap.

Not sure about the wheels though

Our diesel only did 25/26 so yes I think 22 is unlikely.

Those alloys are hideous, BMW alloys are usually quite nice on the sport models.

Rather wait for the X5 5.2is or whatever they will call it...assuming they make a top end special! Hmmmm X5 with the V10 from the M5...that could be interesting.

V8 4.8is Is what your refering to and it's already avaialble.

Other wheels are avaialble, those are a set of two nasty type wheels the rest are top bannana.

Yup, ugly and pointless in my view - but hey, everyone to their own.

One thing though -

Wow... all that technology and it still produces 30bhp less than my 850CSi -
and I bet it produces a whole lot less torque too!

The normal X5 which Autocar road tested a few weeks ago looked like a Sport version of the old shape - that's a good thing. This M-Sport version looks nasty.
