Looking for a car that can take the family and possibly offer a little fun on the cheapish side. Wonder what peoples opinions are of older Skylines like this one for example?

Any opinions or advice greatly appreciated

Cheers gang, Darren.

Well that ones an auto, I'd be looking for a manual one. Other than that should be fine, being Nissans they're reasonably bulletproof mechanically unless they've been badly modified or maintained.

I dont really pay attention to R33's, but that seem hideously over priced for a non turbo auto 4 door
yikes

You could get an R32 GTST for less than that, which would hold its money much better.

edit: just seen its a turbo rolleyes Still seems expensive though IMHO smile

edit again: If it were me looking for a fun comfy 4 dr, why not get an early 90's 525i Sport? Obviously an M5 is out of the question due to maintence costs, but the M50 24v lump is pretty solid, and if you get a good one it will last long time with little cost

Ah, missed the Auto bit. That puts me off this particular one however I only used it as an example as it was almost the first one I saw.

I like the idea of a BM, but worry about the costs of parts (mind you, a Skyline probably isn't that cheap to run).

Quite fancy a Mondeo ST but not totally convinced about the performance against other cars such as the 525i mentioned just now.

The beauty of a BM is there are places like GSF and Eurocar Parts where you can get almost everything you need off the shelf and delivered very reasonably. I've yet to find any such place that caters for Jap cars frown

And I wouldn't say a 5 series is any more expensive the run than a turbo Skyline either.

...And there you have a key difference between your country and mine. Here Jap car bits are plentiful and cheap, but you pay through the nose for anything European.

I think you would prefer a skyline m8, i have had loads of BM's and although they are great cars, they are a bit boring and common. Take a look at my skyline, its on here as i have to sell it due to massive mileage change in my job.
