Had my Chim 4.0 from new (99) need to replace the radiator.

assumption is that it should be straight forward, but I was always told an "assumption" can be the mother of all f*** ups.

Intend to by rad/hoses from tvrcarparts.

Any advise on removal/refitting.

Not done it myself but from the previous threads and looking at it its straightforward enough but even empty of water its the weight that catches most people by surprise together with the rubber locating mounts - plenty of silocone grease round these for putting back the new one I suggest.

Did mine a few weeks ago.

The Bible explains it fairly well as do the threads in here. Quite straightforward but can be a bit fiddly due to the mounting brackets.

If you are working alone try to remove the fans before lifting the rad out, a lot easier. If you can get someone to lift the other side you'll save a lot of backache, knuckle skin and cursing.

Oh, and follow the re-filling procedure detailed in the Bible too smile

Put some old towels, over the wings to prevent damage to the paint for either the rad or your belt buckle, even buttons on jeans will mark the paint.

Enjoy, its easy enough, but check the metal pipe, you can get a stainless one from someone on here, they mild steel one will corode.

You'll enjoy that bit! And it makes the job soooooo, much easier.smile

Pssst! When you touch up the paint on the rad make sure you pick up the radiator paint aerosol and not the matt black one next to it rolleyes Who'd be dumb enough to do that?

Just about to refit my recored rad and was thinking of giving the fins an extra coat of paint ... is there a specific (aeresol) paint for the job or would my 'gloss black' do the job ?

I used Halfords satin black aerosol on mine and it appears to be ok.
