More questions as I put the suspension back together.

Are the trailing arm shims placed on the inside or outside of the chassis? 'Inside' being the engine side of the chassis. Several months ago when I took the chassis apart I failed to make note on the position of the shims. I've tried looking at all the project pics but never a shot that really shows the shim position.

Got the front suspension back together but I'm concerned about the SPAX shocks. They are a little longer than the OEM and I'm having Jeff@JAE double check the model number he sold me. Jim what is the correct model number for an adjustable SPAX shock?

Again thanks to all for your time and help,
louis

Louis,

The shims go on the outside of the chassis. Did you replace the radius arm bushings? If not, you really should do that. The original ones are certainly hard, if not torn and don't properly 'spring' the suspension. Happpy Motoring! Jim'85TE

Thanks Jim

Seems like I've read the manual a million times but never comprehended where the shims go until after I sent the email yesterday. Read it one more time and there was the answer right in front of me!

Yes, I bought new bushings. The one on the exhaust side was worn out! Each suspension component on the car has new bushings.

Still concerned about the SPAX adjustable shocks JAE sold me. Jeff is looking into it to make sure they are correct ones for the '83. In hindsight I would have been better off to have bought a refurbished set from Steve at....can't remember the shop in England?

Got the front sway bar in correct and will put the rear suspension together, AGAIN and then take her to the alignment shop. Getting the car's feet ready to put back on has been a challenge.
