Holkham 'raid' take two. 10th June
Discussion
Well heres the second attempt at the Holkham Hall raid. Lets hope the weather behaves this time !!
All details are as the previous date, but I have included them here again for anyone who missed the last thread.
If you were on the list for the 24th May could you confirm if your able to make the new date please
Here's the basics :
Date : Sunday 10th June.
I thought that it would be nice to arrive at Holkham around 12.00 -12.30 giving us the whole afternoon to take in the delights of Holkham Hall and its other attractions (website here). If the weather is reasonable, it might be nice to take a picnic or packed lunch as there is loads of room (and tables I think) around the parkland area to eat before planning what you wish to do for the rest of the day. There is a Cafe' on site also for those not wishing to do the picnic bit. Once there the rest of the day is yours to do as you please. The prices for the Hall and Bygones museum are on the website. There are also a number of walks around the grounds on the website, and if your very energetic, you could always walk down to the beach.
Meeting Points
I think a good main meet up point could be Swaffham market place as its very easy to find (just head for the middle of the town), and its only just of the A47. From here we would take the A1065 to Fakenham, then the B1105 to Wells-next-the-Sea along the coast road a couple of miles and into Holkam estate.
Meeting Times
I would suggest leaving Swaffham at 11.15am, so meet around 11.00am. There is also a possibilty of another RV at Fakenham, although the only place I have found is a Shell garage forecourt on the roundabout where the A1065 meets the A148, so space would be a problem.
I have been in contact with Holkham and they have no problems with our visit, and can possibly provide a designated parking area for us. They have requested an idea of numbers nearer the time though.
So there you go, that's the plan such as it is. If you would like to come along could you either add yoursef to this thread or email me through my profile. Any questions ask away.

Nice one Hannah. Have you got that new engine fired up yet ??
Er no, not yet...the clutch release mechanism...er...released itself this afternoon & I've been frantically calling round looking for a pair of axle stands to prop the back end of the car up. I was saved by Dynamix from Big Power & we've wasted nearly three hours disconnecting the gearbox & reattaching it to the engine. Fingers crossed it is now done & maybe JUST MAYBE we might get it fired up tomorrow.
