ME!!!!!!!
Ok here's the story.I purchased some new crystal headlights and connectors for the light wiring.Decided to fit them this morning as it wasn't raining
First thing to note was the sidelight used a different type of bulb, which meant if I fitted them I'd have to take them off again to fit the sidelight
Sod it they are going on,if i don't fit them I'll probably break them anyway,no major probs except the inner rings are shot.So it wasn't wasted time after all as i can now order new rings and fit at the same time as the sidelight
On to the wiring connectors,I've wanted to get this job done for a while as the existing connectors are sh1t.Fitted the offsidethen decided its too hot to sweat doing the nearside so I'll do that another time.
So battery reconnected, indicato check, going double speed
. OK put the hazards on as this shows which bulb is fubar, sure enough its the rear,ok wiring ok so far.Next, and this is where it starts to go wrong, I move the right hand stalk up one position,no lights.Hmmm ah that's cos i have no side lights.
Right stalk up to position two, yeeeeesss we have high beam lights.
Now, for the real brainwave,I move the right hand stalk down one position (thinking should have dipped beam
) Hmm no lights.
Right out with the meter and trace the fault I check continuity on both halves of the new connector ok,so my connections are fine and no blown blub :frown: Ok check the fuse, cant find the wiring diagram for an hour. Eventually find a copy which i cant really read, so I scan it on to the PC. OK I'll sort this now.Head in the footwell and snakes released fuse pulled and is ok,mucho scratching of head now. Checked relay switches and is fine.Think think what to try next
I'll try the headlight flasher,at least it will tell me if i have a circuit.
So I sit in the car pull the flasher stalk and everything works. There was a long pause for thought before a very very large penny dropped. Its the
ing left stalk for high/low beam and right for lights on /off.It took me 4 hours to sort a fault that wasn't even there
, the shame
Im going to get very pi55ed now

I've not been there yet pies but am working on it!

PS I went on a TVRCC run a few years ago and got home 170 miles later; parked on the drive. Went out a bit later to put the car in the garage and it didn't want to go but it finally started and sounded a bit rough but got it in the garage ... hmm - better sort it tomorrow. The next day spent ages checking everything and all seemed fine but wouldn't start. Knowledgeable friend says "have you got petrol" - "course I have its reading almost 1/4 full and the pump starts and runs then stops so must be pumping" ... next day still no nearer and running out of ideas - friend says again "what about some fuel?" After much moaning I go and get a gallon and guess what ... oh dear ..
. The next day the sender unit came out and was adjusted - its still not perfect but its better!

Got the S out of the garage, after its winter lay-up and started the pre MOT checks. Couldn't get the horn to work, so stripped the steering wheel boss and then started to to check the connections with a meter to find the problem, even to the point of connecting the horns to a spare battery to prove they worked. Decided that the problem had to be something to do with the earthing of the steering column and at that point, thankfully, I noticed the horn sign engraved on the stalk and guess what I pressed it and the horn worked!!!
I must have spent the best part of an afternoon trying to sort this out and thank you to TVR for leaving the horn connections in the steering wheel boss. Just goes to show what you forget when you don't drive them for a while.
Lesson learnt, before I strip anything in future, check the handbook and bible!
