Overheating 360 fix
Discussion
My 360 was getting uncomfortably hot, partly 'cos they do, and partly 'cos mine is in an almost completely enclosed cupboard. I was on the verge of buying a powered laptop cooler when I read a review that tested a bunch of them. A passive cooler (XPad4) came out top, cooling the laptop 4c lower than the rest. Looking at the design, it was clear that it just allows air to flow more clearly underneath. Being a hi-fi geek, I have a bunch of cone points to hand. I popped 3 underneath the 360. An hour later, the 360 is only tepid to the touch, and the vents are blowing out cool air. Chuffed! I am sure popping pretty much anything under a 360 to raise it up would help, but using 3 points has the benefit of stopping the 360 rocking at all. I am using poncey Mitchell Engineering ones, but they sell cheap ones at Richer.
You can read my posts and see my pics on here to see how i cooled my 360 if you
have a hunt.
It didn't make any difference though, it still died after about a year.
I put it in the oven to get it working again and it lasted about 5 days and died
again yesterday, so i put it back in the oven once more and it's working again.
Probably for another few days i would assume.

mine started crashing this afternoon playing dirt demo and call of duty.
didnt crash playing the forza demo for an hour tho. Anyway I did the same thing (raising it up), but with lego
bricks.
If it dies between now and june 8th, or indeed anytime soon after that, im going to stamp on it, go straight out and
buy another one.
