Ooooh dear - went out to start the girl this morning, after not driving for 5 days- and shes a non-starter.

Battery has plenty of charge, dash lights up, and I can here the fuel pump- but no starter.
Put headlights on and when I turn the key, they dont dim. I cant believe its anything to do with the immobiliser, as they engine doesnt turn over - anyone give any suggestions what I could try ?

exactly the same happened to me 2 weeks ago.
look up the thread. I got some good advice and fitted a hot start kit from mod wise. no problems since. get someone to start it up as you tap the starter motor. mine fired up straight away.then go for the hot start kit before you rush out for a new starter motor. good luck

Ive got the hot start kit - but the car has been stood a while anyway - tried the 'persuasive hammer too.

Think it'll have to be a new starter - and theres nowt on fleabay at the moment !

I'd agree the problem is most likely starter motor-related, but it could relate to the immobiliser, even if the fuel pump runs up. Try disconnecting the battery for ten seconds or so before smartly reconnecting it.

If you hear no click and is is the starter motor that's at fault, tap the solenoid with a hammer instead of the motor itself.

If you have a multimeter there's a couple of electrical checks you can carry out before replacing the starter motor.
