I've just purchased a Chimara 4.0 1995, my first TVR. Have bought an automatic battery charger which will charge up through cigarette lighter. Will this work when ignition is off.
Any other problems I should expect! Thanks a lot.

Make sure that the battery charge current is below 6 amps otherwise there is a danger that you will overheat the wires from the cigaratte lighter. It is fine for battery conditioners but I woul not recommend it for a battery charge because of the current implications. And check that what you thing the positive terminal is the positive one on the socket - they have been reversed and the consequences are not pretty!

It's also very important that the charger is regulated to 14.4 volts. Some chargers will exceed this when the battery is fully charged. I use an Optimate charger which is excellent for recovering deeply discharged cells. It also has protection for incorrect polarity.

I bought my 4.0 Chimaera in July, I now want a 5.0, it's addictive. Have fun.
