Door microswitch
Discussion
Yes the microswitch is inside the pillar lock mechanism.
You need to unscrew the 3 very small cross-head screws which hold on the shiny silver cover. It's highly likely that at least one will be rusted in solid so easing oil would be advisable - left overnight.
Once the plate is off you can unscrew the lock mechanism via the 2 allen key bolts. It all then pulls out and can be put back by removing the backplate where the seatbelt emerges from.
Chances are the microswitch lever has got dislodged or fallen off completely so be careful as you loosen the switch that it doesn't fall down inside the pillar and gets lost forever.
If you have a warranty that covers electrical items that my advice would be to let your dealer sort it out by replacing the entire lock mechanism.
In my experience (I did mine myself before I realised that my warranty covered it!) it's a fiddly bugger best left alone.

My passenger door has started to not recognise when it is clossed unless I walk around and push it with my bum. Does anyone have instructions on how to adjust or replace this? Do I remove the door catch 'cover' - I assume its in there?
Thanks.
I think I have pictures of this, I'll look them out an mail them to you. Thanks.
