Im looking to upgrade my 03 C4S which I have no problems with and think is a great car. The age of the new car has to be younger then this so is it a later 966 TT or a 997s or 4s
Thanks

Had a similar dilemma myself a while ago and went the 997 route... I wanted a more modern car and the interior of the 997 swung it for me over the 996. The 997 is as quick as 996 TT 95% of the time IMO! I'd go for 2s over 4s though...

In engineering terms, the TT is in a different league.

It has a proper dry sumped, race proven bottom end to its engine (which the GT3 shares) - derived from the GT1 Le Mans winning car.

That engine was deemed too expensive for the mainstream cars, which are treated to a non raced, non dry sumped engine (which has had numerous problems, 997s are not completely free of rms - so my opc tech friend tells me).

To have a choice for similar money between these cars is a strange anomaly of the used car market.

In terms of buying a thoroughbred, for me, TT wins every time.

Ajit.

I'll add that speed is not the issue hear as I'm more then happy with the C4S.
Its the newer 997 against the good looks of the 996 tt.

if you are after performance your after then go for the 996tt but if its a more modern car that you after then go for the c2s as i dont really think the c4s is worth the £5k over the c2s.

If its just 'normal' driving I'd go for the 997s, esp if you get a -20mm version, very sure footed, the TT is more point and squirt, not that the TT is a bad drive, quite the opposite, its just more of an brawny...

I guess by that argument a 318i is as quick 90% of the time!
