At the risk of getting a good kicking..

AGAIN???!??!! What is it with the M40? I've been using it daily for the last three years and haven't once had any problems. In less than a week we've got 2 fatal accidents on the same stretch of road.

I got caught in this on the way to visit my wife in hospital. After my initial thoughts of "oh sod it, not again, how bloody inconvenient". Then i started thinking about the poor victims and their families, and how someone was going to be receiving some extremely bad news today.

A sobering thought that put me in my place. I was 1 1/2 hours late, but at least i finished my journey safely.

My thoughts are with the families...

Some of the comments posted to that article are quite concerning really. Either because people can't spot irony, or because people think that speeding / tailgating could be responsible for an accident caused by an HGV crossing the central reservation.

^ I think you've got it right the first time, they can't spot irony. You'd have thought the name "blinkered" living in the middle lane would be a big enough clue!!

Cars, some bad drivers, trucks, some bad drivers, a couple of bends on the motorway plus an exit = all kinds of possibilities for accidents. I've seen plenty of people swerve over to exit at the last minute going Northbound too.

How does a truck cross the central reservation - major swerve - not usually something a truck driver plans to do, therefore something caused it - phone ringing, car cutting up, blowout, trucks are speed limited (UK ones).

Anyone know if the trucks were UK registered?

It still reads like one of those "rearrange the following words into a coherent sentence" puzzles, but I do now understand the meaning! smile

Dunno but Handy Cross was solid this morning so I took the country route into work.

Some plank on Bucks Free Press site said:
I think the long straight between junction 2 and 3 should have speed cameras on both sides. I travel along this stretch almost every day (at about 70 mph) and EVERY DAY I am overtaken by other motorists who must be travelling at around 100 mph. It may not solve things, but it will certainly make people more weary along this bit of motorway
Freudian slip there?

Anyway. It's sad to see so many accidents on that bit of motorway. We got caught in the aftermath of a 4-car pileup a couple of weekends ago. I suspect the M25 junction itself is causing the problem - people do leave lane changes very late there. And there's a lot of very crap driving by the "Mr Importants" - you know, the ones whose day is so much more important than yours that they have to tailgate you when you're in the outside lane, overtaking traffic. And not forgetting all the LHD trucks...

The AA said:
Road Incident
M40 Traffic congestion between J2 Beaconsfield East (junction with A355) and J3 Beaconsfield West (junction with A40) in Northbound direction.
M40 Traffic congestion between J5 Stokenchurch (junction with A40) and J4 High Wycombe South (junction with A404) in Southbound direction.
I have no idea what that refers to though.

Edited for awful grammar
