Of Ford's shitty rear light cluster connections.Anybody got an idea for replacement.

This time its the plug thats faulty

I've thought of soldering direct on the the terminals on the bulb holder and then putting a waterproof connector on,trouble is the bulb holder will probably fail a week after doing it

Any ideas cus I'm pissed of with it

I'd say go for the soldering option & new connector - but get another set of light holders (from a breakers?) and make yourself a spare set with the same connector.

The wiring in the TVR loom is much stiffer than Ford used on their with these connectors which doesn't help. I picked up a pair of connectors with a few inches of Ford cable and soldered/heatshink sleeved them onto the TVR loom. The more flexible Ford wiring means you can then align the wiring with the holder and zip tie it in place.

I did try to solder directly onto the holder connector but couldn't get a good flow and adhesion of the solder to the metal tabs so gave up on that and went with the connetors with flyleads.

As bizarre as it sounds after replacing my bulb holders and terminals it appears the origanal fault lay with the fan! Apparently, according to Steve Heath S-Series Bible Page 82, "symptoms of a burnt out fan can be defective rear lights".

Unfortunately for me, I found this out after I had replaced the lot - escort parts £37 from main ford dealer (breakers wanted £30 for second hand parts).

This may not be connected to your problem but thought it may be helpful.
