Back pain in Porsche seats?
Discussion
Hi all,
Wondered if anyone suffered back pain in their Porsche (mine is a Boxster) seats? Have just purchased Boxster and adore it, but am getting bad lower back pain. I do have a history of probs with my back, but it has not reacted to a car seat like this before. Any advice? - as I would be really loathed to part company because of this.
Thanks
Stig

Oh dear!
I haven't encountered any problems with my Boxster seats - but I know the sort of thing you mean. I had a Peugeot, which fine for most people, my back could not get on with.
Which seats do you have? Buckets/Sports/Regular? You could try changing the seats over?
I presume you have already spent an afternoon adjusting the steering wheel in and out, the seat positions, angles and so on to see if that eliminates it?
Worst comes to the worst I seem to remember some specialist or other who would examine your driving position, adjust it for you and provide seat cushions if necessary...which you could get made up in matching leather. I'll poke about a bit on the net see if I can find who it was...

I have a similar problem, basically, the lower you seat, the worst because all your body weight is concentrated on you lower back as opposed to say, a 4x4.
One suggestion would be to get the optionnal lumbard support, or one of those supportive belt you were around your waist.
In the porsche seats, it's not too bad actually, because they have a tendency of hugging you and you're well in place. When I drive the SL500 which supposedly has more comfortable seats, the back pain is worse. Dunno why.
Fanch.

I would speak to Southbound in Hampshire on 01264 810080. They supplied a friend of mine with an inflatable lumbar cushion which slipped inside the leather cover of the seats of his 944. IIRC it was very reasonable (under £30) and provided relief after years of perseverance. I am sure they could help in the case of your car
