me: No, it is a Vauxhall Monaro

Ah, is that a v6 then?

me: No, it is a V8

Oh I've only seen V6 ones of them

I made my excuses and drove off

They do make them with a V6, not that he would have known that.

Suprised it wasn't at one of the many Vauxhall Monaro 'Specialist' Garages.....

(the obvious couple of dealers excluded )

We have had no end of problems with our X type.

We have just sent a formal letter of rejection to the dealer.

Hey ho.

Lovely to drive mind...just don't buy one from a fagging Ford dealer.

Steering pump.
Steering pump...again.
Brake discs.
Brake system leaking air.
Gearbox hard to engage 1st, sometimes wouldn't.
Remote key fobs stopped working.
Wipers wouldn't stop wiping on auto mode.
Erratic idle
Erratic idle again (wasn't he on Monty Python?)
Noisy air con clutch

and so on

All niggly stuff but clearly a car that had seen better days tbh.

sigh

hmm sounds like a lemon alright. I really really would be hoping to sink cash into a Laguna2 estate but the turbo issues just put me right off

Thing is we really like Jags.
There's something quintessentially British about them - despite being owned by Ford.

So once we get our cash back we're going shopping for an XJ6, from a Jag dealer and we'll have an RAC inspection done on it.

[pedant] "did" not "do" wink [/pedant]

Don't know how many CV6 were sold here, don't know why anyone would want one?

Recently a car park attendant asked me to move my Mondeo yuck but I couldn't be bothered with a correction.....Stealth is sometimes good.

The estimator at a Vauxhall main dealer bodyshop thought mine was a Calibra!

must admit, that one has me flumixed too.. when I was drivin the HSV Coupe around I had a couple of "Mondeo" comments - maybe it's real dumbarses that dont know thier arse from their elbow & simply read "MONARO" and assume "MONDEO" as it's a familiar name? Same scenario when I went to a large Vauxhall dealership not long after arriving in UK (after the Munro had been sold here a while) and the service manager assumed I was driving a van (Movano or sumfin similar sounding I think???)

Calibra I can kinda understand (but still not forgive!) - Coupe.. GM stable.. etc

Doesn't the Calibra still have one of the lowest drag coefficients of any production car?
