However they do show some shocking driving on these programmes. Not just car thieves and druggies, but reps and bikers displaying dangerous even aggressive behaviour.
I think, to be fair, the bad driving shown isn't exclusively limited to car thieves, druggies, reps and bikers. While the majority of bad driving shown tends to be by those that are already involved in criminal activities, car thieves, druggies etc., the rest of the ‘general public’ representation seems to me to be pretty much across the board.black-k1 said:

Admittedly the driving was way appalling and the book was rightly thrown at the to55er in question but at one point, AS said:
"forcing the oncoming driver off the road completely"
It was a passing space and the guy saw the idiot coming and pulled into the passing space. If the culprit was doing 15 mph the oncoming driver would have done exactly the same!!!!
Admittedly there was appalling driving in every clip but the blanket exaggeration and one eyed commentary really detracted from the points being made (badly) and the fact that the crims really should have been locked up anyway.
There was one of the last snippets and you just know that bugger all happened to the perp as they didnt comment at all on the outcome as they seemed to do in every other case?
These prgrammes really are terrible and if anything, will encourage the wrong sort to try and make the grade by appearing! The sick world we live in now?

Yes! Precisely what I thought when I saw that clip, the guy was in a well-marked pasing-place!
That programme is best watched with the sound 'OFF'.

Alistaire Stewart on ITV now, classic opener... talking about KSI's on our roads "the main cause isn't drink driving, it isn't even falling asleep at the wheel..it's speed!" Idiot!
I actually wanted to kick the tv in when he said that! And ditto the comments about the car pulled over in the cutaway....
Same thoughts about the layby.
What about the clip after the adverts, where Stewart said "watch this and see what happens when you speed in a 30 limit" or words to that effect. The clip then shows helicopter footage of a stolen car being chased by police, going straight through red lights and crashing into crossing traffic. So actually nothing to do with speeding and everything to do with joy riding unlicensed thieves!
Then we had the classic advert/clip of the rigged car with wheels locked trying to stop at 35 and how much sooner it would have stopped had it been doing 30. I guess the program is a few years old, as these days 'twenty is plenty'.

Hard to take advice from a man convicted of drink driving......twice.
I've often thought that he might have been commanded to do these programmes as part of his sentence.... Which makes me wonder what Jamie Theakston has been up to

Mind you he did get outed for failing to pay a lady of the night her full £200 fee as he only had 40 smackers on him, so he deffo isn't Persil.

I think a great example of why most speed limits are totally unnecessary can be seen from the following clip taken from the "Biker Banter" section. It shows an on-camera view from a bike travelling over the mountain section of the Isle of Man. There are no speed limits and the authorities have even temporarily made the road one way. Even so, you can see local car and van traffic moving at its usual slow speed and even most bikes travelling pretty slowly. If you listened to certain speed control zealots you'd think there'd be carnage, cars rolling over on the bends, running out of road etc etc without some form of speed control and hidden cameras etc, but no, people regulated themselves, even those not used to "no limits" freedom:

that clip wasn't exactly a chase though, the police car was following the passat, , and towards the end the commentary said something along the lines of " the policeman has seen enough and decides to pull him over" (which the driver duly did), so i got the impression the police car was just following, not chasing."forcing the oncoming driver off the road completely"

have to agree with the comments about forcing the other driver off the rosd as well, yup forced him into a nice passing place!... bit like the bit where they said the driver "drove straight through a give way without stopping".... shiock horror!... i didn't know you 'had' to stop at give ways!

Whether within the speed limit or not, we all set are own speeds all the time. It might be a built-up area when we see some people near the edge of the road or a dog running about or some parked cars. It might be a narrow or twisty NSL. It's not surprising then that people manage the mountain and that is certainly no evidence that speed limits are unnecessary.http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
