Well here it goes, its started already.

Booked car in last week for radio to be fixed/replaced if needs be, and the passenger highlight washer cover was missing when i picked car up so that needed to be fitted also.(both to be paid for by previous owner)
Car went in yesterday morning - first thing 08.30 am.

Any way i forgot to ask them to check air con for me so i rang them up..no problem.

12.30 PM phone rings its opc newcastle, radio needs replacing can fit it in morning and they`ve fitted headlight washer....BUT casr needs both radiators replacing, one of the rear tyres is illegal and they need to put a dye into air con system to check for leaks...No problem i said.
BECAUSE not 10 days ago the car was 111 point checked, then warranty put on, 2 new rear tyres, both fronts have 4.8mm on them & on top of that the car has just been MOT`d lsst week...so how did they miss the tyres as its part off the check

The radiators are both to be replaced under warranty as is the air con system and the tyre - b*****ks ....they are full of crap
Quoted me £1,505 for 2 x radiators and £330 for 1 x tyres

MAD - 2 questions i asked them

1. how did they miss all this on 111 point check, as air con is covered on it,tyres are measured, so is radiators and so is radio.
2. Tyres are part off mot if i am correct, so porsche let me drive away car after mot with illegal tyres on..not likely as all tyres were measured and noted on 111 point check, the least being 4.8mm

They're trying to mug you.

Ring them up, and tell them to do all the work which is covered by the warranty.

Then when you pick the car up, show the dealer principle the 111 point check sheet from a few days ago and ask him why his technicians are raping the warranty and taking you for a mug.

Then find another OPC.

Sorry to hear this mate and it really does not suprise me!!

Same happened at leeds , we knew our rads were leaking so took it in and they wanted mad money for all 3 (only 2 needed changing so i later found out) , unfortunatley most dealers are like this , good luck with it buddy

similar problem i had at newcastle last year, car was in for a 48k service, they rang up with a list of things as long as my arm saying they needed doing. I said no thanks just do the service and they had the cheek to ask why i didnt want the other items fixed.

turns out that i got it checked by a porsche independent in newcastle the following week who said that 80% of the items they said needed doing actually didnt...needless to say i would not trust a porsche dealer to anything other than essential servicing which is purely for the history

Another HUGE THUMBS DOWN for Newcastle here as well.

Went there last year, foolishly. Never again.

Get your car in with Johnnywishbone at Malton, those boys will look after it far better than most if not all OPC's. In my humble opinion of course

What is this problem with 996 Radiators anyway, i have noticed a few complaints about them on the forum and being charged £1500+ for new ones seems a bit steep especially as the car had just passed its 111 point check.

Its ok everyone saying that Newcastle are just trying it on BUT there must be a problem somewhere with the radiators OR Porsche GB are a bunch of crooks and they better be wary of tradeing standards knocking on there door.

Keep us updated 3021.... on the outcome.

OPC NEWCASTLE UPDATE...

After they didnt reply to a number off my calls i decided to go down in person and see what the hell was going on with my toy...

Was greeted by service manager and asked to sit down and get myself a cuppa while he got together my docs....

Bearing in mind the car was in for ONLY ...the radio to be changed out or fixed, whatever and the passenger side headlight washer cover to be fitted also i believed in my opinion the air con wasnt working too good.
The story goes on....

radio replaced cdr22
headlight washer fitted
Air con regassed & dye put into system to double check for leaks
all radiators replaced
2 x new tyres fitted to rear of car

Porsche warranty had to pay up in the end for both radiators and 2 new rear tyres because off 111 point check and the fact the car had just been mot`d by porsche less than a week earlier

The total bill was £3200 OFF WHICH I ONLY PAID £585 FOR THE RADIO AND HEADLIGHT WASHER......should have doubled checked the rads mr porsche service technician...and thanks for the free tyres, i had to get the opc newcastle dealer principal involved - happy to help because newcastle billed opc w`slow for the amount excluding the radio and headlight washer

£3200 Bill?? Why do i keep hearing how cheap a TT is to run on one hand yet i keep reading thread after thread of 2K & 4k bills?? Being fixed under warranty is all well & good but that shouldnt disguise the fact that there does seem to a quailty issue with TTs - I dread to think what the early 2000 TT owners must be thinking when OPC stop granting warranties after 9 years??

its not uncommon OPCs trying to con people best thing to do is find a decent specialist in your area as they will use porsche approved parts so your warranty will be fine.

Had a phone call off them today asking if we were happy with the Garages services...told them that they were money mad and if they cared to view the internet they would realise that many people think they rip us off in the north east. Apparently they were aware off all the criticism.....
