Hi,

I know the subject of cleaning products has been raised here many times before.

I'm currently cleaning my car with Autoglym Shampoo. I'm looking to find the best interim wax/polish product to put on the car before setting off on a long drive through Europe.

I will have the car properly valeted when I return, but would like to apply something now to protect against traffic film/flies etc.

Ideally something that is eacy to get hold of and easy to apply..

Cheers

Halfrauds do a low-end Zymol bottle approx £20, works a treat.

I also currently use Autoglym shampoo and then use the Autoglym polish. Is Zymol appreciably better? Or even easier to apply and shine up?

yes and you don't get the annoying powder that you get with Autoglym.

After using Autoglym for years i've recently found a better product! I was put onto it by the chap who owns DPN valeting, a fanatical car detailer who's worked on my cars and friends cars over the last couple of years. He uses all sorts of very expensive high end products, but for day to day use recommended 'Race Glaze', I've got some of the shampoo called Auqua Bathe and some polish called 'Crem Perfection'. It's great stuff, the shampoo doesn't leave streaks like Autoglym can and gives a better shine, whilst the polish is an absolute joy to use, no dusty residue, wipes on wipes off & doesn't even mark plastic trim!! little bit more cost that Autoglym but well worth it woohoo

I'd get off onto eBay and buy a bottle of "Fire Glaze".

the cheap zymol stuff you find in halfords isnt really zymol. its made under licence by turtle wax and isnt much better than autoglym super resin polish which when used properly is a great product.

The proper higher end zymol waxes are good... if not slightly over priced.

Dodo Juice waxed have just been released and from the samples i have tried are very good looking waxes at a fraction of the zymol cost.

If your looking for a very durable wax that probably looks 80-90% as good as zymol then you wont go wrong with some collinite 915. couple of coats lasted over the winter on my own car.

Thanks for all the advice I eventually splashed out on a Zymol starter kit with the Glasur wax. Despite me saying it was just going to be an interim solution I plumped for the Zymol kit after doing some more research...

I haven't got anything specifically for my wheels (996) however and I'm wondering whether it would be appropriate to use the same kit on them. the kit I have includes the HD cleanse by the way...
