Not sure if this has been covered before amongst the discussion but as lots of us will be travelling long distance to attend this fabulous event can anyone recommend a local hotel for people to stay in? Perhaps if enough people register their interest on here we can sort out a suitable discount as well as a few drink & lick over peoples cars the night before?? (Sabotage of opponents vehicles not permitted)wink

You could try Hintlesham Hall http://www.hintleshamhall.co.uk/
or Belstead Brook http://www.swallow-hotels.com/hotels/belstead-broo...
or Hotel Elizabeth http://www.elizabethhotels.co.uk/copdock_hotel.cfm
or Holiday Inn http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/ipw...

All close to the A14, easy access, parking and not far from Wattisham

I may be able to help with accomodation on the base as I accept some people may be coming a fair way. The accomodation is secure and has a single bed and basin - shower and toilets are shared between two rooms. Its not the Hilton, but for around £10 per room you can't really argue. Would be nice to have a few beers with you lot before the day as well. As with the running list, put your name on here if you want 'cheap' accomodation on site and I'll start a list. Priority will go to those travelling furthest though.....

Hi Longbow, I still have no idea if my Cerb will be repaired in time (latest news the full immobiliser system needs replacing as well). However, I'll still come and watch. All things being equal I'll bring my 12 year old co-pilot. Would he be allowed to stay on base or am I better to find a hotel?

Unfortunately the policy on spectators remains the same, you will need to be entered in the running list to get onto the base on the day as all passes will be arranged before the event. Also bear in mind that a 1 mile sprint doesn't lend itself well to spectating anyway - the start and finish points are barely visible from one another and due to safety run off areas, the runway and around 250m either side will be out of bounds. However, that aside I would say that any couples or anyone bringing a child would be best catered for in a hotel, base accomodation is basic afterall! You could always hire a Zonda for the day if the Cerb isn't ready!

Cheers Longbow, I thought the accomodation issue would be as you suggest. I have a site pass so I'd be OK in that respect. Just no Cerb - yet. Mind you, perhaps I could disguise the V8S... smile

One thing -re the hotels metioned, are they secure parking?
Only there will be a lot of high end vehicles left there overnight .
Just a thought but one that must be considered.

Yes, and the thought of having the Officers Mess surrounded with exotica makes me laugh, the guys here will be truly lost for words!! I'll just tell them I'm having some friends round for a few beers and watch their faces hit the floor!!
