Just thought I'd say Hi. Been browsing the forum for a few weeks now, took the plunge and purchsed an 05 CV8, picked it up last week, so far so good. It's a daily driver, but I'll alternate with the bike when I can't afford to fill it up any more
Already started looking into the various mods, as I'm incapable of leaving anything standard, just gotta decide where to start, It's got a VXR exhaust plus remap, but is way too quite so I guess an exhaust will be near the top of the list. I know the Wortec is probably the most popular, but I'm considering a Borla cat-back as with the $ to £ ratio as it is, I can get a system shipped from the US for about 500 sheets, anyone got any experience with these systems?
All comments appreciated, (even the rude ones).....

welcome aboard. if you want a chance to see/hear a lot of the options available get yourself registered for the Donnington touring cars event in July - see the link at the top of the board.
No experience with borla but one thing to watch is that you buy the right model for your car - you say you bought an 05 but is it the facelift model with the twin exhausts and the black plastic insert in the lower rear bumper (or even more obvious is the petrol tank in the boot)? If not then its probably a late reg 04 model which would mean you'd need to look for the 04 GTO type exhausts. The newer twin exit ones wont fit due to the petrol tanks location under the boot on the 04 models. As long as its cat back you should be okay but likes of headers etc are unlikely to fit due to steering column position.
Wortec gear sounds great but don't forget you've also got LSV offering Milltek exhausts and RapidGB who iirc are doing a nice line in DiFilippo 2.5" and 3" exhausts with headers. Benefit of buying from one of these guys is that you can have them remap the car at the same time to make the most benefit from the exhaust. Consider adding headers as well, I regret not doing it at same time as the exhaust and its an upgrade a lot go back to have fitted - cheaper to do it all at once.

Hi, I ended up plumping for the borla cat back as after some research on my 04 cv8. I went for that one as it was slightly cheaper than some of the other UK supplied products and the yanks seem to rate them highly. In terms of the right product, i think the borla website is pretty good for finding the right part as it shows the product, and if you want to hear it there are plenty of postings on you tube of cars with the exhaust fitted. WRC tech in Silverstone fitted and tuned it for my car and i have been really pleased with the results compared to the original, which was crap!
Cheers MattCV8, that's pretty much what I'd found by checking the various websites. found a couple of sound clips, and it seems to give it a nice deep V8 'burble'. I can fit it myself, and the car already has a Wortec remap, so should work just fine.
Well_Fans, good point about the model, it's registered 05, but is actually a pre-facelift, so probably an 04 model year manufacture. Must admit, out of choice I'd probably go with the Miltek, but they only do a full system and my wallet won't run to that at present!! I'm actually not to fussed about outright power just yet, I just want to make it sound right....
