Go on ...try it!

I've used all the fuels, including 99 octane in my 997 and nothing feels as good as this, even though it's rated at just 97 octane. It's quite frightening the speed at which the engine now flys towards (and until I got used to it) into the rev limiter.

...better mpg too!

Used it in mine a few weeks back. No difference in performance, but mpg was up a tad. It may take a couple of tanks I guess before I notice any difference in the car's performance.

...also remember, like real ale, it's important to buy your petrol from a garage that sells a lot of the stuff....

Filled up with it last night. Will post if I notice any difference to the usual BP Ultimate.

Put a tank in once as I ran it nearly dry at Brunters... Seemed perfectly fine, but I generally stay with Shell's finest wherever possible (which I find a tiny bit more to my engines liking than anything else).

MPG saddo here biggrin

Currently running a tank of this stuff through the Boxster. I haven't done any "fill to the brim" calculations yet but so far going off the computer I'm seeing around an extra 25 miles per tank out of the stuff.

Not bad seeing as it's cheaper than V Power too.

I bought this for the first time in France yesterday on the way back from Le Mans and thought today that it really did seem better than either Shell or the Tesco 99 which I normally run.........

I full tanked on this after reading this topic to experiment, and have any of you found this, but the engine ( 997s) actually sounds smoother?! (Normal tipple is Esso, but will prob now switch to Total).

I knew it wasn't just my imagination....

honestly if I'd been told the car had been tweaked I'd have believed it..... it's so smooth you have to be careful to avoid crashing the rev-limiter and the mid-range really kicks you in the back....

interestingly, the Porsche is now so lively, when I recently drove my Caterham (OK so it's only 140bhp/but 500kg's) for the first time since using excellium in the 997, it felt slow in comparison...

...and no I don't work for Total!!

I went to wikipedia to figure out about this Octaone, RON, MON lark ( must mention here that everything I know about Chemistry can be written on back of a 2 nd class stamp). I was pleased to find that fuel, and RON levels etc are not just another sales gimick, but it actually does what it says on the packaging, one is genuinely buying something more hi-perf tan just regular octane stuff.

Is Shell/BP/Esso equivalent of Excellium also good?

Just returned from Le-Mans, I filled up in Newmarket with Tesco 99 RON, and then topped up in Dover with BP Ultimate which I used all weekend, I noticed the car was not as smooth as when I use Optimax, In Le-mans yesterday I filled up with the Total stuff (98 RON over there) and the car was very smooth on the way home and got me from Le-Mans to Cambridge on the same tank even after a diversion up the A127 Across through Brentwood, Chelmsford etc to the M11, then up to Duxford to drop off my mates gear. My local garage is Total which I never use, but I must say I have spotted a CGT in there so he must know something...

.....the thing is that all the focus is on the Shell and Tesco 99 octane whereas the Excellium is only 97, so there's more to it than raw octane value.

In fact the Tesco 99 stuff made my car run a bit rough....

I think it may have been the Tesco stuff in mine too, as it was rough on route to dover and still had a fair bit in when I filled at the BP... I've never trusted supermarket fuel...

Having topped up today, 29.3mpg. Usually see 27.8mpg maximum on V-Power (not that I keep track of course).
