e-Gear.....whats the vibe on the street?
Discussion
Right then, I've decided to accept a bit of change in the gearchange dept and give this new fandangled whizz bang flappy paddle stuff a whirl!
I am looking to move the Gallardo on at the moment and move into a Spyder or a Murci, however it seems more and more apparent that the good old faithful stick shift isnt getting spec'ed as much these days and I havent got the patience to buy new (if I want something it must be on impulse - I dont do waiting for cars to be built....especially not at the Italian pace!
)
Anyway, obviously I will make up my own mind as Bruce at Lambo London has kindly offered to bring a car out for me to try - but in the interim have we got any stick-shift to flappy-paddle converts on here that cares to throw a few comments/feedback into the mix?
I am a flappy-paddle virgin, and currently quite anti the whole prospect.
Thanks in advance

Mosi the cheap way to find out is...
Buy a Logitech G25 (150) you get a copy of rFactor with it, download the said cars you are into.
Now try between using the clutch/gear lever and the paddles on the wheel.

Not entirely sure why people really want the paddles then again it depends on what driving you are doing mate.
So there you go...the CHEAPEST way to find out if you are into them

Hi Mosi,
I'd always had manual cars, last one was a 360M, never considered anything else till I went over to Manchester and test drove the e-gear spyder. Love every aspect of it, haven't explored all it's possibilities yet (thanks for the tip crikeymikey
). I don't class myself as an expert driver at all, but do enjoy sprints, hillclimbs and fair share of trackdays with most of the cars I've owned and would happily swap any of those gearboxes for e-gear
Choice between roadster or spyder is a bit like manual or e-gear as well with the roof systems!
I'm sure someone will post a more thorough reply!

Hi Steve - I'd always owned proper stick shifted manuals before the current e-geared flappy G (in both my previous Fezzas I drove the F1 versions and didn't really like either compared to the manuals I owned) - however I am now also becoming a bit of a convert - I'd just say try them and see - I don't think you'll be disappointed, especially as it's a w/e car you're after anyway.........
