heater/cold fans and air con
Discussion
When I first got my car the hot air fan worked but was very noisy, the cold air fan didn’t seam to work at all.
Now neither fans work. Is there a separate fan for hot and cold?
Also next to the fan controls I have two buttons, one switches on a red light but doesn’t switch it off, the other switches on and off a blue light. Whats this all about? :-)
Im going to have route around in the passenger foot well, clean the control box plugs and poke around for blockages behind some panel thats supposed to be there. Any other ideas please?

Hi Thomas
On mine the fan control on the left is for hot air - although its so slow you can hardly hear above the noise of the engine. The control on the right is for cold air. As for the switches - the left switch is the heated rear windscreen and the right switch is aircon.
Hope this helps

After a poke about with the ribbon leads my cold air is working. Not sure if the air con is though.
Still no hot air at all though?
Where is this panel in the passenger foot well? I dont want to rip carpet up until I know where it is. Which bit, behind the ECU or the left hand side?

If you remove the passenger side foot mat there is a carpet covered piece of fibreglass which is vertical at the end of the footwell. Grab the bottom of this and pull forward and remove to reveal the ECU and 2 other control boxes. The larger of the 2 with the heatsink is the hot/cold air fan & aircon control box, I think the other is for the wipers. They are all held in place with velcro. Mine a 2003 don't know if layout is different on other models but don't think so.
Good luck

Simon.

But I’m looking for an access panel that gives access to the fan to check for leaves, etc.
