wont run

I started the car, it ran about 5 seconds, and died.
It will do this again and again until the battrey is dead.
I have run a couple of tests, one is to see that the fuel pump is working and it only work if I push the flapper open.
Has a sensor gone or what could this be?

It does sound like a fuel problem.

Is there petrol in the car.

Any recent changes.

With a flapper system - the fuel pump only stats when you turn the key or if ignition is on - you can press the flap in the airflow meter.

I would remove the lead from the coil and check fuel was being fed fromthe fuel pipes when you crank the engine - it's only 2 pipes to remove, a container and a few rags..

yes I have cheaked the pump is working and I am get fuel to the engine but only when I move the flapper and I have a good spark any more ideas.

Does any one have a spare ECU I can buy its a Lucas PRC 9280 4CU

I bet it is the relay, have you disturbed one recently? Had exactly the same on mine after I swapped some relays around. Car starts fine but only runs for a few seconds. Many of the relays are identical but one or two have very subtle differences on the numbering but they work completely different. Also if you have taken one out check the wires haven't pushed out the back of the socket when you replaced it. This has happened on mine as well.

Coolant temperature sensor or the connection thereto. Trigger wire from the ignition amplifier to the ECU.
