Hello, i have alwys hailed from Reading but hav been in south wales at university which has now finished.

So thought i'd say hello to you lot as i will be on this forum from now on.

I need to do some work on the pug this summer, would it be best to use a performance garage or a regular one?

Anyone know of any reputable ones?

Cheers, Tim.

There is a specialist in Peugeot and Citroen near Wokingham, just off Nine Mile Ride. I know nothing about them though, other than the fact that I see their sign whenever I drive that way.

Maybank Garage in Reading have done work on my 968 and MG ZT. They look after a number of raced prep MX5 and race their own MGB GT cars.

They also do work on a nice 964RS.

Decent chaps, family run and good rates. Do MOT too.

I'd recommend Simon at Thorne Motor Sport in Tidmarsh (0118 945 4058). I originally used him to look after my TVR and he's recently carried out work on my Peugeot including a cambelt change (quad-cam, one belt, bu66er of a job apparently!) at a very reasonable price.

He's always happy to discuss work needing to be carried out and will willingly keep any parts replaced if requested.

Tidmarsh? As in near Pangbourne? For TVR servicing?

Do you know if he has any V8 experience?

Yup, Tidmarsh near Pangbourne but, no, I don't think he has TVR V8 experience. I used to use him for my S3 which is pretty much stock Ford apart from the cooling system a few other minor mods.

I'd definitely recommend him as a good honest independent mechanic, but not as a TVR specialist - sorry!

I know that my mate, who lives just down the road from there, uses Steve Howard in High Wycombe to look after his Chimaera 4.0 which is, I think, pretty much identical to your V8S engine wise.

I'd concur - they look after my 968, M3 & shopping cars, plus several high-end and specialised cars (track prepped rather than blinged) belonging to fiends.
