Anyone got any ideasfrown

I've now removed the fuse box to check the cables which is all ok.
Checked all the relays which are ok
Checked the loom inside the car which seems to be fine.
Looked inside the ECU and it seems to be fine.

Help.....

Sure you have not had something spliced into that supply, possibly causing overloaded fuse, how long as it done this have you done anything electrical to the car recently?

It started on saturday the aa man said it was more than likley the fuel pump coming to the end of its life and pulling to many amps so I changed it today and its still blowning. I've had a good look around all the cables in the foot well and can't see anything. Will have to start working round the car to try and find the problem. Do you know if the ECU fuse just runs the ECU.

Hang on a second Dave, i had something like this before if you have a restriction from the pump clogged filter or crimped fuel line it can overload the pump and give the symptoms you decribe, try and run a seperate feed to the live side of the pump and disconnect the original wire then see what happens, this is for a short period only and dont forget to have an inline fuse on the temporary supply wire, failing that try to back track the loom from the fuse board sometimes you would be suprised what else runs off one circuit even though it says ECU for example.

Update time.

Just ran a feed to the fuel pump and the ECU fuse still popped. So I guess its not the pump.
Anyone got any more ideas?

Cheers

Dave,i would start checking that loom, also dont dismiss a fault inside the fusebox itself.

Just checked the cables in the dash and behind the stereo all ok. All the Alarm cables seem to be fine. Looked in the engine bay and found a thin cable going to the starter motor has melted away to bare metal.

looks like someone cable tied it to close to the manifold.curse
