I have found a nice 997 C2S cabriolet 05 55, 15,000 miles 1 owner, in cobalt blue, it has all the desirable extras ie 19 inch wheels, sports chrono pack, electric, heated sports leather seats, sports exhaust, phone prep, but no navigation! Has anyone had it fitted by Porche? They have quoted me £2,200 fitted, I am not too keen on have the whole dash dismantled.Whats involved? The dealer (not OPC)is asking £63,500.

Get a better aftermarket kit fitted by a good installer, or a tom tom on the dash. Positive this will come in cheaper than porsche, with the added benefit of a system that will be easy to update

I chose not to have the Sat Nav option in my Cayman S as it was, quite frankly, silly expensive. I decided that by the time I came to sell it Sat Nav would be a standard option on mobile phones so it would not be such a high profile necessity as folk deem it to be currently.

18 months into ownership and a host of mobiles now have Sat Nav which means you can use the phone in any car you are driving and not worry about the stupid prices Porsche charge for fitting it in a car for you.

Nokia N95 and away you go thumbup

Though it is nice just to have everything integrated into one unit don't you think??

Push the dealer to move on the retrofit costs, they'll have about 50% in it in reality

If I ordered a new Porsche again I would not specify sat nav, it's crap!!

Go for it, there are plenty of good aftermarket units that you can transfer from car to car.
