Is there a list of distressed Companies available. I am looking to grow the business through an acquisition of some kind. Does anyone have knowledge in this field,
or know of any suitable Companies in the Packaging business.

By distressed do you mean in insolvency or just underperforming and looking for investment?

We don't keep a record of businesses for sale (treat each on a case by case basis and advertise for sale as relevent). Insolvent businesses are typically fairly widely marketed in the press etc - preinsol sales are made by discreet marketing (as typically it you try to open up the marketing the business performance will be affected).

We don't keep a list of interested corporates or individuals - too much hassle I'm afraid - we only maintain a list of serial investors and distressed PE funds.

Yes, I mean insolvent or close to insolvent, I am looking to make an acquisition.
Where do the insolvency practitioners advertise the Companies?

Depending on the size you are looking for I suspect that the only place to really look is to pick up the phone to the main accountants and start talking. They've got them on their books.

If a company is distressed they tend not to broadcast such information (for obvious reasons)! Have a look on here:

http://www.business-sale.com/

Some of the companies, I've found, are distressed on this site!

Lastly, presumably you want to pick up a company on the cheap? However, don't assume it's just distressed companies that can be picked up on the cheap, what's more important is "distressed owners" who want to sell (for a myriad of personal reasons). So, first of all find the right type of company and then make investigations as to why they're for sale.
