Once the battery / system is reset the key should unlock from the switch, if not turn it anticlockwise twice then try to remove it, if not do this:

Inside your fuse box cover / lid will be a thin piece of metal with a hooked end - the ignition key release tool, remove the tool, use it to prise out the small square piece of plastic in the key bezel then insert the tool into the hole that is now visible, the key will then be released. It should be described in the owners manual.....

Assuming its 987, not 986?!?!

its a 987 man, ive got it out with the wire but its the only way I can removed it. The opc have tried resetting the system but cant seem to resolve it .... they want it now for a few hours to take out the chamber and see if the problem is there..... but me being tight thought id ask on here to see if anyone else had a problem rather than run up a days charges at the garage...

Being a 987 wouldn't it still be in warranty??

i wish - it finished its warranty two weeks ago . Ive got the car back home now just wanted to try a few things before I have to go to what looks like the major exspence of them sorting it out but to be honest looks like it will have to go back and i can see it being a couple of days work plus parts. But ill try a couple of things that have been suggested this weekend first and report back if i have any luck

I had a Boxster that was just outside warranty --- a hanbdrake spring had collapsed.

Despite the fact that it was a C16 import, Porshe accepted a sympathetic claim and I was credited the cost of repair.

I suggest you talk to your dealer ?
