Guy's,

Looking for a bit of advice.

About to take the body of my S3 and know that the out riggers will need replacing.

Any recommendations for reasonably priced chassis repairs in the West Mids?

Cheers

Chris

Try Adrian Venn at Coventry or Central Sports Cars at Stourbridge

David Gerald at Worcester quoted me 1200+vat for body lift outriggers fix without seeing the car.
Guy who responded to my email was Doug Elwood.
dug.alwood@btconnect.com (yes dug spelt like that).

They can collect also.

Chris

If you are taking the body off completely dare I suggest that you probably don't need a TVR specialist to do the welding? I'm fairly sure a couple of people on the furm have just used a mate with welding gear or a decent local fabricator?

Have asked a couple of mates - but neither of them are willing to touch it. As soon as I mentioned tubular chassis and welding they both said "oh - that'll need jigging to be done properly..."

So have decided to go the route of a specialist/indy who's done a few.

As I see it (and I'm no expert) the riggers are only there to support the body? Shouldn't need jigging for this surely?

That's what I would have thought, but to be honest if I'm gonna get it done it might as well be done properly - and besides I'm hoping it's only the outriggers that need doing.

I had discussions with a few people about repairing the outriggers - I was considering a car that was one owner 22k miles but shot outriggers. Anyway thats another story.

The upshot is that replacing the outriggers isn't dead straightforward - there's various slopes going on with the tubes - it isn't just a case of lobbing on a bit of pipe. Well thats what more than one repairer told me if you want to do it properly.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who had taken the cheap route and got it through an MOT, before you all shoot this post to pieces shoot

Not looking to go the 'cheap' route - just the most cost effective! smile
But also want to make sure its done correctly.
