Any suggestions for decent food and a pint of real ale?

I'm meeting up with an old friend wink on Friday - perfect opportunity for a Mendips/Salisbury Plain hoon en route, but haven't got any ideas as to where to eat. Say 25/30 mile radius of Reigate, preferably village/country.

If you read this after Friday am, I would still appreciate a reply for future use (I've only got a copy of the 2002 Good Beer Guide at hand).

I would suggest the Plough in Coldharbour. Just outside Dorking, tiny little hamlet, the pub has its own micro-brewery putting out decent beers, it has a nice little beer garden if the weather's nice, and the food is also very good.

If you're lucky, you might even get to see a couple of McMercs in the carpark, as I did earlier this week! biggrin

I remember this pub now - last summer I found it by accident, but it was rammed - no parking anywhere near, so could not stop. Tomorrow. there will probably be a Z4 parked alongside Woking's finest.

Fantastic part of the world.

Cheers!

The Drummond Arms in Dorking - faultless and ideal. Sitauted on a river, the rear garden actually situates itself around the stream. Beautiful setting...
