Hi all

Long story short we have on site parking at work for about 50 cars. Of those 50, 20 spaces are underground and 30 outside (but still on site). It was raining this morning, and I had no roof on the Elise so I parked in front of a colleague's car (who's into his cars) blocking him in so it could go underground.

We've done this before to one another (and discussed it) - and agree to do it to one another so we can park underground. Everybody knows we do it, never been a problem.

Then today, this sent to the ENTIRE office;

e-mail said:
Dear All,

I have received a complaint from an employee that the practice of parking in front of another employee's vehicle should not happen. This situation does mean that the employee needs to go back into Reception to ask if the person, who is illegally parked, could come down to remove their vehicle.

I have advised you previously, that as there are now three tenants in the building, we do not have enough spaces for all the staff and that you can for the time being use the car park at Victory House, which is just across the road.

Can you please ensure that you do not park in front of another employee's car, as there may be an emergency and the employee may have to leave as a matter of urgency.

Thank you,

Regards,
Now, I want to reply along something the lines of this;

Hi XXX,

Under the Road and Traffic act 1975, amended 2007 (Ben I need to confirm this), parking on private property is not covered under police powers. Thereby your accusation of illegal parking is totally unfounded and insulting. There are no signs anywhere on site specifying that parking must be made in bays, thereby I have contravined no on site rule.

Thereby, I request a full and public apology in the same way you chose to handle this pathetic situation. By e-mail to everybody who receieved the below.

Tony
but am unsure of the exacts of it. Could somebody avdise? Want to be as sh1tty as possible!

NEVER RESPOND TO HR IN WRITTING ! They put it on file for a later date !!!

Instead take said collegue to see HR manager and Tell him off the record that you are both incredibly pissed off at his attitude and in the same circurmstances (Rain and NO roof) you will do the same. Make sure your collegue backs you up like MR Angry. Keep it off the record and at a later date you can deny the conversation took place.

Are you sure HR’s email referred to your contravention?

You’ll look a bit silly if it was aimed at someone else.

As long as you and your colleague have an arrangement, and parking in front of him doesn’t inconvenience anyone else (that seems a bit unlikely though, unless he’s parked in a corner or something) then just ignore the HR email.

What they said. Don't email back.
My move would be to just carry on as if the email had never been sent.

To be honest, the actual thing that occured is not my worry - it's that it was dealt with (by HR woman) by a mail to the whole office; it was obvious it was me, everybody knows that me (and colleague) do it to one another

So I wanted to be as shitty as possible to HR woman. Why would it matter if she kept that mail on file? I want it to be factually correct and nothing more. I am, frankly, insulted that she did it like that and want the point to be made as such.

Thanks for the comments though chaps!

Obviously not illegal on private property, but bad idea nonetheless, imagine if there was a fire or similar emergency, or hypothetically this guy had a phone call saying his wife/child had had an accident and had to get to the hospital quickly and for whatever reason couldn't locate you quickly, (perhaps you had gone out for some lunch)....

So no, I don't think they were being unreasonable......judge

Sorry......biggrin

let it go. Is it worth getting all worked up because you didnt put your roof on the car?

if someone in HR has the time to write the email to the whole office, likely they have the time to make your life difficult.

Spend your time and effort in working out how to get the parking space you need in the future.

Did your antisocial parking make parking in any of the nearby spaces any more difficult?

biglaugh but so true!

Personally I would go along with your colleague to HR and have a quiet word, and just explain that you have an understanding and that no problem was caused. No point pissing off people in HR - you never know when it might be useful to have them on your side, or show a bit of discretionary leniency in future.

Oh yeah absolutely. Its a relatively small office and so only me.

It is indeed in a corner; there's a little cut away with space for one car, so we T-bone across one another but it doesn't affect a single other person (which is why we do it there).

Hmmmm, there's me trying to be as big a pain in the bottom as possible and you lot are making me be sensible frown

It's because it was done so crass and publicly that I'm annoyed. Grumble grumble.

You need to think a bit more laterally... Invite her out on a date, woo her with fine wines and food and then bed her... Once you've got her in there, her up the arse and wipe your cock on the curtains as you leave.

HTH.

I park in front of the Passat hard against the wall/nose of the passat - causes no problems at all but means the car goes underground.
