My finger on the air guess would be 520 to 530bhp. Not read or been told anything conclusive yet.

What was the MK2 GT2 - 483 HP? Up from the 462 hp of the MK1 996 GT2?

I doubt they will push it much past 500 BHP, if at all.

997 TT is what, 480 HP?

My guess is no more than 505 BHP.

In Evo they spotted one at the 'ring and say that the car will have just over 500BHP and will have Traction control. thats about all they said so far. Oh they did say it will be priced north of £130k

Interesting. When the 996GT2 was lauched with 462bhp the 996 turbo had 420bhp, giving the GT2 a 42bhp advantage. From what people are saying here the 997 version will have less of a power hike over the turbo.

i would have said that the 997 gt2 will have a similar bhp advantage to the 997 turbo as the 996 gt2 did with the 996 turbo.

Rumour is 520-530bhp, dealer said the same today when I ordered one. Lets hope they've done some serious weight reduction from the 997TT, which is far too heavy.

There are some very good new pics of the car out today on the net (Rennteam and Stuttgart9s for example), I'd post them here but don't think this site allows uploading, so they require hosting. Also there are pics of new design of bucket seats which split to fold forward, to allow access to rear.

So will you be shipping it off to RUF as soon as it arrives? Will your 996 be for sale and if so, any idea what kind of value you would put on it?

No I would keep it stock, at least whilst it's in warranty.

As for the GT2 I haven't decided yet what to do with it and also I don't as yet have any firm delivery times/estimates for the GT2, obviously other than the fact that it's first public reveal is Frankfurt in Sept.

If it's not at least 550hp and 200kg lighter than the TT then it will be a disappointment. rolleyes

Then you'll be disappointed. Given Porsche history on powers changes over time, it's always in small steps, so I very much doubt 550bhp. Also there's no way they'll strip out 200kg from the TT, it will be 100kg minimum and I'm hoping for 150kg, but 200kg is a serious weight reduction.

Porsche factory engineer recently told me that the X50 Powerkit for 997TT is giving 530hp easily - so thats the MINIMUM I would expect from GT2.

I've also heard 100 Kilo weight saving - and a German pal who was at the 'ring on a day when white and a black GT2 were doing the rounds, said that gearchanges sounded instantaneous/imperceptible! - So I am hoping that Porsche have a suprise for us and that GT2 will pioneer the use of PDK gearbox!????

My connundrum is that I have a GT3RS on order for December build AND the FIRST GT2 my OPC is getting as soon as they are available - what to do if GT2 IS launched (and I think it is an "if" ) at Frankfurt for build in late 07??? DO I ditch the RS and get the GT2???? Or get the RS for a limited period and then P/X against the GT2??? ......BUT......there's a chance GT2 won't get launched until Geneva - as an 09 model for build dates of Aug 08 onwards???? Thoughts??

From everything I've heard from many sources, the GT2 will be launched at Frankfurt.
