Nos injection system for the esprit ?
Discussion
It realy depends on how you use the NOS.
What kind of NOS ie(wet system, dry system). On your particular application I would not use anythng stronger then 50 shot may be 75 Shot, depending on how many miles are on your car. Especially if you have cast pistons in the car .
My understanding is that you can set the NOS to run off the throtle plates or set it up by revlimiter. Were you set it up is realy up to you.
When I do it I will set it up in the front nose, were the spare is. Then set up two lines to run to the back of the car.

Hi,
After reading this post, I guess I misjudged your interest in the Esprit. It doesn't sound like an Esprit is really the car for you. The Esprit is a road car, not a quarter-miler or stoplight dragster.
The power in a lotus is a significant component to the overall balance of the car. Lotus purposely limited the power so that it would act in concert with the suspension set-up. Add too much power, and you'll really upset the car. Power can come on when not intended and negate the car's excellent and predictable handling characteristics.
Before you go tying up all kinds of money in 'Go Fast' parts, you may want to do a bit of soul searching and decide if perhaps a souped-up Honda or Mustang 5.0 is really a better car for you. Of course, that having been said, it is your car and you may do as you wish, just don't go off all cock-sure that you'll be improving the car.
A stock Esprit, driven at the limit, exceeds the driving capabilities of about 95% of the people out there. I am a veteran of the track and an experienced autocrosser and my relatively stock Esprit is more than enough car for me. Remember, more does not equal better. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

Thanks for your answers. I know what it must sound like
NOS injection.... It is more to look good than to make a "the fast and the furious" car out of the Lotus Esprit. I don't want to spoil the character of the car by adding things like bigger turbo chargers. So I fully agree and I wouldn't do anything to an Esprit which is bad for it just for a few more hp. But you must admit such an NOS injection would look good in an Esprit
I think the Esprit is the right car for me, I just want to make it more perfect. Look, the Bond Esprit was also improved a little bit

Hi,
I still don't get it. I do not agree that it would look better with a NOS system. I think it looks gawdy, and cheap. This is a trendy add-on and is responsible for more engine failures than just about anything else and does shorten the useful life of the engine. As to your comment on Bond Cars, these are simply movie myths. But, you can radically pump up any car. Take for example the guy who installed 3 turbine engines in a generation 1 Toyota MR2 to achieve 850HP. It was radical, needed a 20HP Honda gasoline engine in the front boot just to power the fuel pumps. But, it was a God-Awful monstrosity which performed so poorly that the guy immediately sold the car. More surprisingly, someone actually bought it.
There are several sensible ways to improve the power/delivery of the 9XX engine to include the addition of a BOV, upgrading the cam, advancing the valve timing, porting the head and increasing turbo boost. These are sensible, time-tested upgrades which will not be so radical as to change the overall nature of the car. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

Not to mention, that adding a NOS system just for looks is useless weight, and the antithesis of the Esprit concept. There are safer ways to increase performance.
I hate to sound like an uppity owner, but you keep saying the Esprit is for you. Is it just the looks? Have you driven one?
If it's just for the looks and the prestige, the car is probably not for you. If you admire the performance and handling, then it probably is.
But again, it's not a 1/4 mile car, it's a road car. If you want a 1/4 miler, buy something else. Frankly, 1/4 miling is the only thing NOS is good for.
And back to the NOS, remember this about what you are proposing...blow up a Mustang engine, head to the junkyard for replacement. Blow up an Esprit engine, head to the bank for a loan.
It sounds like 1/4 miling is your thing...I'd recommend you invest in an F-body car (Firebird baby!) and make it lethal. I know of a few people with 600+ HP Firebirds that are gorgeous and do ridiculous things on the 1/4 mile track. Things you'll never do in the Esprit.

i totally agree with the gallery on this one. The esprit is a beautiful and time perfected car, I wouldnt put nos or a lift kit and mudders on my esprit either although it could be done its not the platform of choice for a monster truck. i also dont think its a goofy dragster. its a very fast incredibly well handling road car, with impecable taste for lines and leather not a junior dragger. get a stang and blow it out. the esprit is a road car that leaves others in the turns not the strip.....
