Best Insurance?????
Discussion
BTW, "best" and "cheapest" are not the same thing. The only way to know which insurer is "best" is to make a claim. And then you'll know whether the insurer is a cheapskate who'll nickel-and-dime the whole thing to death, fighting you at every step, or whether it'll be slicker than a greased weasel.
I'd vote for any firm that uses "Broker Direct" to manage claims. When my wife smacked her 205GTi into the back of my Sierra Cosworth (yes, really!) the difference between the two claims was significant - hers was with Broker Direct and mine wasn't. Hers was in the body shop the following day, with a loan car (OK, only a Nissan Micra, but it was free) immediately offered, mine took weeks before a loss adjuster appeared (they thought it was a D reg 2 litre Sierra, *not* a Cosworth), hers was back within the week (before mine had even been assessed), mine took months. My insurers argued about which repairer we could use (although, in hind-sight, I should have used theirs). With hers we never saw any paperwork. My company tried repeatedly to chase the third party for costs - both cars were insured in my name, so I'd have been suing myself. Despite repeated 'phone calls, ever heavier letters kept arriving asking me to tell them who the third part was. In retrospect, I should have just have given them my address...
Anyway, the size of the premiums tells you nothing.

4.0 cerb - 40yrs old - £400 from Tesco (full no claims protected).
Althogh it does not apply to Tesco, your best bet is to talk to as many brokers as you can over the phone, particulary small independants. Membership of a club somtimes reduces cost, and if you can tell them you've owned / driven other high power cars they usually reduce premiuim considerably. Online quotes are a good start but not always best.

Tesco (online) - me and my g/f (her being on the insurance brought it down by 200!! explain that!), me being 30, 10 years nc, 2004 tus S - £539, not bad at all I thought! previously with privelege they were £670 this year..still not too bad.
Tip of the day - add your partner as she is not as much of a risk as you

Yep, Missus on insurance as well on mine. Would not dream of letting her in the hot seat, liable to end upside down in a shopping trolley, but insurers think a good thingTip of the day - add your partner as she is not as much of a risk as you

Here's a very recent thread discussed in the S forum.
Generally applies to limited mileage second car policies.
Still worth a look.
Hagerty gets my vote.

Hagerty for me too! £300.00 fully comp, 5K miles per year on a 98 4.5 Cerby. I originally paid £280.00 with a 3K limit but had to put this up to 5K miles. It's only about 50 quid dearer than my Lexus! I'm a 44 y/o crusty old git though unlike some of you lucky young whippersnappers driving Tivs.
