93 BV which is having some electrical gremlins
Discussion
We have a 93 BV which is having some electrical gremlins to say the least. Many of you out there have been wonderful in helping us to sort things so far.
However just had a auto electrician, though I'm dubious, to take a look. He said there may be a problem with the crank and camshaft pickups!!!!.
Am I a right but I didn't think a 93 Griff had these, I thought that was the Range Rover with MBA ignition?
Your thoughts my friends........

The Griff never had any crank or cam pick ups as std.The only place you could get a pick up on a std car is the dizzy.
Unless your car has been modded, then i'm afraid that your auto electrician isn't one!!!
If yours is modded, then you might have a crank sensor, but still very unlikely to have one for the cam(if you want to know where the cam is,then it's easier to use the dizzy!).

On your other thread you say the injectors aren't firing. If everything else is OK (fuel pump priming, ECU power and f/p relay switching etc) then I'd suspect the wire from the ignition amplifier to the ECU. This tells the ECU the engine is turning and the injectors will not fire if the engine turning (rpm) signal is absent. There is a resistor (6.8k ohm or something) in line with this wire, taped into the loom behind the dashboard. The tachometer working does NOt mean this signal is present at the ECU. The easiets way to check the wire is for continuity between the ignition amp terminal and the relavant ECU pin.

Grifter,Found the wire in the loom behind the dashboard, checked it end to end and have found a break. Now sorted, up and running.
Thanks muchly.
