Refused greencard - anyone know a way round?
Discussion
I'm with Admiral and they have just refused me comprehensive cover in France due to a policy not to issue a green card to people under 25 unless they are sharing the driving with someone over 25 who is also insured on the car.
Seeing as the value of the car is fairly high I am not happy going with only third party (no fire, no theft).
Is there any where that can insure me in France temporarily? Can I have two policys covering the same car but in different areas?
Any ideas guys?
Cheers,
Christian

Just insured our borrowed minibus through Norwich Union Short Term Insurance clicky link
Not sure how 2 policies on 1 car would work or if they will insure you on your own car (sounds weird, but you know what insurance companies are like....)

I don't think there is any problem with taking out the Norwich union policy along with your standard cover - my daughter used this so she could be insured on her boyfriends car when they went to France last year, she was not a named driver on his policy and this gave them both cover in Europe at a reasonabe rate.
Interesting to hear other people managed to do it with Admiral. I tried explaining to the supervisor that, I had 5 years of accident free driving, have never had a convitction, done my IAM test, other driver training etc. They still said no, I can only assume its the car grouping thats doing it.
Anyway, after a lot of
ing about, I now have a 'responsible adult' who has agrred to share the driving with me so green card issued. FYI, £42 to add him for 4 days, or £16 to add him for the rest of the policy term (March 2008).
Thanks for your help guys, good to know what others had managed to do.
