Currently I only have PGR 3 on my xbox 360, which is good, but I fancy something new.

Which game has the most realistic engine sounds of the current range of games out there? ears
Or is there an imminent release of a game that will?

Thanks in advance all.

Think Forza 2 has got pretty accurate sounds, especially from the 'in car' view.

It's also managed to get the handling right too.

So its an even split between Need for speed and Forza 2 then?

A few more opinions and then I will go out and part with some hard earned.
Thanks so for guys.

Another vote for Forza here smile (haven't played Forza 2 yet but the sounds of 1 weren't bad)

The sounds in Forza 2 are very good, coupled with the fact that the game is also excellent, you'd be daft not to buy it IMHO.

Toca Race Driver seemed quite realistic. The GT series was good for Jap cars but appauling for cars with V8s. Some of the V8s sounded like inline 4s or inline 6s. Others sounded like the kettle about to boil.

It has to be Forza, it has raised the bar for race sims now. The LCE book talks about the work that went into the audio.

Whats great is you can be in a race and actually tell the car coming up behind you from the sound.

But you can do that in PGR3 too.
Is Project Gotham Racing 3 on a par with Forza 2 as far as engine sound goes?

And does Forza have realistic crash damage?

PGR and Forza are developed quite closly together, Forza would have built upon the PGR lessons learnt.

Crash damage is good yes.

I think the sound is better, but also there are more cars, rather than just a load of high-end sports cars.

Damage seems to be quite good.

It's fairly realistic but to the point of not being stupid. With damage on simulation hitting the barrier at high speed will have a marked impact on improvement. In last night's Pistonhire derby my poor hyundai would only produce 6.8hp when I could get it moving. Panels were bent but not to the degree you'd expect a car to bend

Dunno if it's realistic or not, but the evil noise that the TVR Speed Twelve makes in GT4 is most pleasing.
