Was out driving in my tuscan on saturday almost home and a strange knocking noise started from the engine area, i know the tappets need doing as its a new rebuild with 3ooo miles, i let her cool down as she was hot then tried again and the noise was gone ( typical tvr niggle )anyone have any ideas what it could have been please
I got mine back from a re-build in February and after about
1200 miles got a serious knocking. Had to send here back to
have the engine checked out and it turned out to be a shim had moved.
Its a rare occurance and I dont think this can be your problem as the noise was "load" and didnt go away. It sounded like a valve had bust. I was lucky because I shut down straight away and the shim stayed next to the valve.
If it had dropped down to the sump it could have seized the oil pump and realy screwed the engine.
I would get yours checked out by the people who did your engine as you should still be in warrantee.
