Chimaera Mpg

Can anyone tell me what the official mpg is of say around town of a 4.0L Chimaera. Struggling with bloody tax and need to justify petrol expenditure.
Have searched previous threads but can't find a definitive answer nothing in the bible either, Thanks for any replies.

I don't think anything is official with a TVR.
My 4.0L Chim averages about 17MPG around town. Overall 20.

I think I must get about 16 around town and about 22 on motorways, so agree on about average of 20.

I averaged 26 mpg over 650 miles to Back Home, but then it was pissing down.

taking into account both town driving and motorway driving 20mpg is definitely a good average. In my experience to date anyway - it's what i tell everyone who asks.

Surely for tax purposes you use the statutory pence per mile figure which is based solely on engine capacity?

I was amazed that im getting 24mpg regularly from the 4 litre beast. This is a mixture of country road driving and motorways.

Alot better than i anticipated.

I used to get 21-24mpg with mixed driving in my 4.0 Chimaera. Incredibly have had 27mpg out of the 5.0 Griff (admittedly long distance in the rain).

They changed the tax rules on petrol expenses... but there's a couple of calculators and info available on the IR site

Basically you can claim 40p/mile with no personal income tax liability. If you're claiming petrol costs then in town some people get as low as 15 mpg!!!... but you could claim £6 for 15 miles so your fuel would have to be pretty expensive.

Have been getting a regular 22-ish locally with a few round-the-block blasts. Longest trip since I've had the car? - Rockingham Raceway a couple of weeks back, around 100 miles each way of fairly constant 70 - 90 mph. I checked the consumption when I returned as I needed to re-fuel - 16.4 mpg

We did do quite a bit of stationary posing during the driver parade - and lit them up in front of the pits after dropping the drivers off but that ain't right is it?

Mines leaking from the fuel pipe again so the economy (if thats what you call it) has dropped.

Thanks for the replies guys, have now read the Inland Revenue website bits for mileage claims etc - hadn't thought that there would be rules !!

Just as well it is not a 500 - not had more than 19mpg in 18 months! Varies between 14 (thrashing or in town) and 19mpg! (on a run)

My normal mileage figures similar to everyone else's, but I once did a long motorway run as smoothly as possible at more or less legal speed to see what max mileage I could get: 28mpg!
Never done it again, it's dead boring and defeats the object of having a TVR!
