Realistically how much would it cost to run a 120K Gallardo for 3 years doing 2500 miles per annum?
Also what sort of price do you think I might get for it as a trade in in 3 years?

Seems a shame to spend that kind of money for 2500 miles per year???

Right lets look at the car currently offered by HROwen:

06 Gallardo Spyder 1,300 miles
06 Gallardo Spyder 1,000 miles - although it is in the aweful baby blue colour
06 Gallardo 2,600 miles
06 LP640 - 100 miles WTF???

Yeah I meant 2500 miles per annum, I may push 3500 but generally will only be using the car at weekends (I would like to drive it a lot more but guess the costs/depreciation will be huge).

On a Lambo I don't think it will really make much difference if you do 2,500 or 3,500 compared to the overall depreciation
Millage matters far more on a Ferrari

So do I commute to work in the Gallardo, no of course I use the 430 bangheadbanghead

Dont spec it with a daft orange interior and you'll find its worth alot more!

3 year old G's seem to fetching around £80k. City Bonuses are rocketing again and I am sure that these will keep the prices up as they are the must have.. .so its sounds like about £10k depreciation pa plus service costs of £1k-£2k per annum

Very sad IMHO, even i have managed 33k in my Griff in 4 years, (repairs notwithstanding!).

I may do more Corky but I just wanted to work out the rough running costs based on this mileage. Looking on various used models for sale it appears many owners do mileage of around this level.

Any particular reason why you use the 430 to commute?

My wife prefers driving the Lambo, child seats don't fit into the Ferrari racing seats properly

Am interested in the original question posed by Drinkstuff as I have just decided to treat myself to a Gallardo. Aiming to spend about 120k. Do you think a non London dealer will be more keen to negotiate on price? Do you think its safe to buy privately - how do I get the one that used to be owned by the tea total nun? How do I avoid the one thats been thrashed?

Any particular bits of "must have" extras?

Would like to be a bit more savvy when engaging prospective vendors.

Would also be interested (after reading other threads) how you know when the clutch may be about to go? Any tell tale signs?

As a prospective G purchaser also, I'd be interested in the answers to the above questions too!

Now where are all those G owners?????
