During the last week I’ve finally landed one of these onto my drive which as you can see from the second photograph has got the BMW 4.0 V8 in it, well at least I think it’s the 4.0 although I’ve been told it actually has the latter 4.4.

Given the lack of space as the engine sits bang up against the bulkhead it isn’t possible to fit a supercharger, the original owner have Birds supply him with one only to discover the only way it would fit is to loose the passenger seat!

It’s only done 8500 miles and has always been run on good fuel so hopefully any worries about faulty liners need not be a concern unless I’m mistaken? She is going into the local Bee Emm dealer tomorrow to sit on their diagnostic computer for a while for a bit of TLC.

None the less my medium aim for the car is to raise the power by as much as can sensibly be achieved without relying on forced induction and any input on what is best to do and who is best to go to would be hugely apprewchaited.

The chap who runs the car for me thinks Mountune might be our best bet and having looked at what Hartge will charge I’ll need deeper pockets I think

if the car is 1996-2001 it will be the 4.4 with vanos on the inlet cams!

Schrick cams would make it better at the top end.
