Introductory book for digital photography novice?

[che6mw]

With Fathers day fast approaching I'd like to buy Dad an introductory book to digital photography. Something that would help someone picking up a simple point and shoot digital camera for the first time. With perhaps sufficient examples to make the book beautiful to flick through in its own right.

Any suggestions?????

Thanks
Matt

Another vote for Langford's 'Basic Photography'.

The last time I looked at Photoshop books for relative novices, I thought that this was excellent:

All Tim Daly's books are good.
