If you thought ITV on the box was bad...
Discussion
18 out of the 21 news links on the ITV F1 homepage are Lewis related!!!
NOTE: Lewis did a fantastic job, great drive and not about to pick faults in his work ethics.
HOWEVER: The ITV F1 kiss Lewis' ass brigade HAS TO STOP. What about Nick's drive to second (oh it's the news link at the bottom!) What about Wurz getting it onto the podium for Williams (BTW they are a British team ITV, just in case you didn't fecking know!!!)nothing?
One link for the horrible crash with Kubica oh and a link for JV's music CD who's probably eating humble pie this morning
I think the F1 poll says it all really. Who was the driver of the day: twice as many people have said Sato over Lewis and I fully agree. Once again, not taking anything away from LH but he is in the best car right now and he lead from start to finish. However, Sato is racing for a team with whom 18 months ago didn't even exist and he was over taking Ferrari's a double world champion and more besides, what a driver he is, so why is he not in a leading team then? Looks like he's come of age.
But back to the main point of the thread, when will ITV realise that all this ass-licking is really pissing the real race fans off...

Sato did good but can you honestly say he did better than LH For gods sake you will be complaining about LH next year in the same way everyone was complaining about Schuy

I am not taking anything away from Lewis, my rant is at ITV NOT LEWIS. However, as the other guy says above, Sato was not driving a McLaren which is in a league of it's own, so relatively speaking I thought Sato was the man of the race - a stunning piece of driving by him.
JUST TO CONFIRM I LIKE LEWIS THIS IS NOT A RANT AT LEWIS
OK

Sato has one of the worst cars and finished 6th (ahead of the best cars in the race), is that a surprise? Definitely.
All this praising of Sato is very strange. He qualified 11th in last year's Honda, so the car isn't that bad, and he finished 6th. Good, but hardly brilliant. Yet Heikki drove from last on the grid to 4th and is met with silence. Wurz, similarly, came from about 20th to finish 3rd. Arguably those were two far more praiseworthy drives that Sato's.

A real shame we have tabloids in this country, sometimes they are worse than Tony Blair!! and that's saying something...

But the OP was stating that everything is relative, you would expect the bigger teams William, Mclaren, renault to be in the top half of the field fighting for the points, wher eyou would not expect this from Sato in a Aguri.
The ITV site seems very biased towards the british drivers the same can be said for the french press who always seem to report the french team.

Sato's car is no dog - it has a good basis (it was designed by someone who knew about aero after all) and a friend of a friend who works in aero there says that the aero department is extremely strong and enthusiastic.
I'm not taking anything away from him, but it is true that Wurz and Kovailanen had good races too - and arguably, as you say, they are in good cars and thus the weight of expectation is heavier on them than on Sato.

i like lewis, i rate him very highly. it's just a shame that the media are stuffing him down our throats so much - we're bound to sick it up sooner or later! you can bet that as soon as he makes a mistake, they'll be all over him - is this the end of the wonder boy etc.
i don't think anyone has anything against the kid really, it's just the british media's w@nkfest over him that is so off-putting!

Having a strong aero department is one thing but with compared to other established teams they are still younger and inexpereinced compared to the seasoned teams. Now if the poll was for TEAM of the day then yes the vote would go to Super Aguri. Excellent use of strategy to get Sato out on the best available tyre whilst those in front were hobbled by the super softs.
The Honda works team need to take notes, and maybe move a few key personel.
yep, Honda take note, the keystone cops'll be in the job market soon The Honda works team need to take notes, and maybe move a few key personel.
