German Autobahn Speeds..
Discussion
Just a quick question, Ime off to Berlin on Monday 2nd July via euro tunnel. I am booked on at 14.50 hrs depart and want to get to Berlin A.S.A.P. ie Genesis on Tuesday night, then back on the 14.50 on Weds 4th July. I know its tight but has anyone done this route before? I would like to have the Tuesday sight seeing in Berlin (day time) before the show. Needless to say I need to sleep also!!!
Am I right in thinking I can go as fast as I like in Germany??..Car is 997 2s.
Thanks for any advise guys...

Ok. There are stretches that are indeed restricted-its usually common sense ie cities, busy area and narrow or bendy areas. These area are clearly marked with signs and when you enter a derestricted zone the sign is very similar to out national speed limit zone (white with a black stripe). mthen it really is flat out. I have overtaken police cars in excess of 140mph and they are fine. Keep your eyes open for trucks that will just pull out and you will be fine. Its great and amazing how soon you get relaxed when driving at 150+.
what they say ... if there is a speed limit sign, then obey it. You will know when you are in a speed restricted section because everyone else will have "landed"
about 50% of autobahn are unrestricted but its perfectly reasonable to do German border at aachen to Berlin in 3 to 4 hours depending on how hard you press on and what the traffic is like. Takes about 3 hours from Chunnel to Aachen.
(I used to regularly do Calais to Munich in 5 hours)
