Guys,

Since my original post about the car not idling properly I have had my head under the bonnet looking at all number of things. Last night I noticed that the wire from the coil to the dizzy had a split casing and was wondering if this might affect the idle?

I will replace the wire in any case and may do all of the HT leads at the same time, so can anyone tell me if it is a standard Land Rover part or custom TVR? Before going to TVR Parts I wanted to work out if I could source locally.

Cheers,

Alex

I believe the HT leads are standard LR parts, and they don't last forever. I would expect them to affect all running, but I suspect it would be most noticable at idle.

I have a spare set (again left over from the ECU upgrades) tha you can borrow for testing if you like. That reminds me - I must send you that email!!

TBH IMHO You should always carry a 'king' lead as a spare anyway, it can be used in case any one of the HT leads fails / gets damaged..

Thanks guys.

DNB, don't worry about the leads, I am going to get a new set and try them out. If they make no difference then I can always keep them as spares. But do drop me that mail so I can pop your AFM back in the post with a cheque.

Cheers

The Magnecor set seemed to me to be worth the money (I don't work for them). Went smoother, and actually felt a bit quicker, but maybe just repalcing the old set?

Made a huge difference on my car and they come with a lifetime warranty, so you'll never have to buy another set wink

Had a set of 'Blue' Magnacor leads fitted as part of my last service (along with new distributor cap, rotor arm and plugs) having carried them as spares for the last 6 months. I have to say the difference was quite noticeable.

give joo a bell at track car solutions, he will make a set up for you, and even has a choice of colours I believe.

I brought some Moroso Leads on the very high recommendation of a good friend. One end is made already and you can cut and crimp the other end to length.
